As recently as 15 to 20 years ago the oil was changed by a human chain with buckets of oil. Some companies still rely on this method even now. However, it is hardly viable. First, manual labor is time consuming. Second, a simple oil change does not solve the problem since most contaminants remain in the gearbox after the change and quickly contaminate new oil.

Manually changing the oil is a difficult and time-consuming task. Workers lift and lower oil in special canisters using lifting devices (elevators or ladders). This would commonly require a team of three or four and about eight hours of work time.

Time and labor costs can be reduced by using special oil-change equipment that facilitates quick servicing with integrated oil containment and transportation tanks; an oil heater to reduce viscosity and speed oil pumping; gearbox cleaning with special flushing oil; and mitigation of oil spills and contact between the oil and the environment.

CG Ton lifting Consultants Mobile Turbine oil replacement unit consists of a Electrical 3 phase motor with rated pump, Electrical control panel, a clean oil tank, a used oil tank and drums for hoses. All parts are installed on a two axle trailer. Should power be unavailable, the unit can be powered by a generator.

The amount of oil supplied is recorded by  a pump nozzle with flow meter at the outlet of the filling hose.

A mesh filter protects pumps from large solid particles. A 12micron fine filter removes particles which may have accumulated in the oil during storage and transportation.
