C.G Ton Lifting Consultants conducts safety inspections on all types of Fall arrester Safety Equipment.

There  is  no  clear  timeframe  stipulated  by  legislation  on  how  frequent Safety harnesses and fall arrester equipment must  be  inspected  other  than that the user  must  inspect  the  safety harness  each  time before it  is  being used . However, GSR2 states that every employer and every user of machinery and equipment shall make an evaluation of the risk attached to any condition which may arise from the activities of such employer or user. Based on this, OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Standard require that an organization shall imple- ment procedures to cover situations where the absence could lead to deviations from the OH&S policy and objectives

By having your safety harnesses and equipment inspected by a third party and having the inspection reports and certifications on record shows gives you the Client piece of mind knowing that your Fall Protection Personal Pro- tective Equipment is documented on a register, inspected according to the correct inspection criteria and standards and tagged and certified “Safe to be used.”

Safety Harnesses are manufactured mainly out of Webbing. As web slings are subject to a thorough inspection Quarterly whereby the inspection cri- teria is the same with regards to webbing “ Tears in webbing, Cuts ,Wear, Webbing fraying, Welding burns, Chemical exposure, Condition of Stitching, Legibility tags. It makes  perfect  sense  to  inspect  safety harnesses at the same frequency = Quarterly– Every 3 months.
