Quarterly Lifting Equipment Colour Coding Inspection

As per government legislation all Lifting tackle must be subjected to inspection quarterly.

Extract of Driven Machinery Regulation 18.10

(10)   No user may use or allow the use of any lifting tackle unless –

  • every item of lifting tackle is well constructed of sound material, is strong enough, is free from defects and is constructed in accordance with a generally accepted technical standard;
  • every lifting assembly consisting of different items of lifting tackle is conspicuously and clearly marked with traceable identifi- cation particulars and the safe working load that it is designed to lift with safety;

not exceed (e) such lifting tackle is examined at intervals not exceeding three months by a competent person, appointed by the user in writing for this purpose, who shall record and sign results of such examination.

Colour coding inspection tagging

Our colour coding tagging system have been perfected through years of inspecting lifting Equipment and tackle, knowing how tagging gets worn or damaged or lost and we came up with a product that is reliable.

Our tags are supplied Colour coded and ensures ease of equipment traceability. It is robust, durable and can be added to any lifting Equipment or tackle.

The unique tag number is used for the inspection document control number.

Our Colour coded tags have to be physically removed using a side cutter and can withstand a breaking force of 2000 N [Approximately 203kg].

Lifting Equipment and tackle not conforming to the inspection criteria , but can be repaired will be taken out of service for repairs and tagged ORANGE. It will be reinspected after repairs and retagged the particular Colour coding tag for the period , passed and re-certified “SAFE TO USE”.

Lifting Equipment and tackle NOT conforming to the inspection criteria due to damage that is NOT repairable will be taken out of service and tagged RED. It will be quarantined or locked away or removed from site WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE SAFETY MANAGER.
